Nintendo Switch Has Now Outsold PS1, Targeting PS4 Next

can ps2 play fortnite

If you can’t download drivers you may need to download a emulator program if you had a xbox controller you can just plug and play, a ps4 controller should probably be plug and play also. So my answer would be no. More importantly, fortnite battle royale was released on 26 september 2017, which is more than a year and a half away from shutting down of ps2.

Nintendo Switch PS1 PS4 1

Sony’s iconic PS1 has had its lifetime sales surpassed by the Nintendo Switch, as the House of Mario’s hybrid hardware looks on track to overtake the PlayStation 4 as well. In its latest financial report, the Japanese company revealed that, as of 31st December, 2021, an eye-watering 103.54 million Switch systems had been sold. This statistic takes into account the console’s various permutations, including its new OLED model.

It means that the device now has its eyes on the PS4 next, which is at around 116.8 million units. While that number is likely to climb a little bit more with the production of an additional one million last-gen consoles, it’s clear that it’s nearing the end of its life while the Switch is allegedly “in the middle of its lifecycle”.

The big question here is whether the Switch can catch up to the PS2, which is the best-selling home console of all time at 155 million. To be honest, it seems possible – although there is some debate about whether the Nintendo device counts as a home console at all. We’d argue it does, but obviously there’s a discussion to be had.

It’s also worth remembering that, despite these hardware numbers, PlayStation pulls in much, much more revenue than its Japanese rival – although Nintendo is a much leaner organisation, and is thus more profitable overall.
