Well, everyone is about to go on break for Thanksgiving, but when we return? It’s going to be time to enter a new era of Fortnite. Another one.

It’s not just Chapter 2, Season 8 ending this time around, all signs point to this being the complete end of Chapter 2, and the arrival of Chapter 3, which of course, may also come with an entirely new map, as we saw between chapters last time (with a few carryover POIs).

All season long, the Cube Queen has been assembling her Cube collection in the middle of the map, building structures, and now that’s going to result in…uh, something big. Given that one Cube destroyed the map last time around, what does an entire pyramid worth of Cubes do this time? And when is it going to happen?

According to HypeX, and a timer that’s about to show up in-game, the day and time for the Chapter-ending event will be:

Saturday, December 4 at 4 PM ET. This could be December 5, depending on your time zone, as it will occur simultaneously around the world.

The actual contents of what’s going to happen during the event are closely guarded, as Epic tends to go after people who leak too many of their surprises, so we don’t know much other than it has to do with this giant Cube formation. Epic’s Donald Mustard also has been indicating the recent Batman Fortnite comic contains some clues, and it seems like the Fortnite-original character The Foundation is going to play a big role. Rumor has it that he’s voiced by The Rock, which is less of a rumor and more of an open secret at this point. So I would expect him to appear.

As for how the island could transform? No idea there, really. Last time this happened, Epic famously shut the game off completely for a few days before rebooting it with a new Chapter 2 trailer that led directly, seamlessly into a match on the new map, which was a lot of fun. This time around, we have zero indication of how they might launch a new map this time, and if the old one will be destroyed, or just…left behind. While the plot of Fortnite is hard to follow, the idea is that there are multiple realities and multiple island variants, so we will likely be entering another one. Epic also uses this multiverse concept to explain all the various licensed IP characters that keep showing up in the game.

So, stay tuned, and we’ll learn more as we get closer to December 4. Fortnite events are never ones to be missed, and one that ends an entire Chapter? That’s going to be something special.
