A new leak hints at Dragon Ball's very own Goku coming to Fortnite as a playable skin in collaboration with the upcoming DBS: Super Hero movie.
A new Fortnite update hints that one of the world's most popular anime characters, Goku from the Dragon Ball series, is coming to the game, and fans think they know its release date. Fortnite is one of the most prominent battle royale games on the market today, and has been since its release in 2017. New content, modes, and map refreshes have kept the game from getting stale. Fortnite recently made its Zero Build Mode a permanent feature after it gained enough popularity. However, the thing that has arguably given Fortnite the most fame is its broad array of crossovers from TV shows, movies, and other video games.
A large number of pop culture franchises have been represented in Fortnite over the years. Players can play with or battle against one another as characters like Star Wars' Darth Vader, Halo's Master Chief, DC's Batman, and many others. While most of the franchises introduced into Fortnite came from primarily western franchises, fans were surprised to see Naruto-themed events and content added to the game. The Naruto franchise is one of the world's most successful manga properties. Still, the most respected ninja was apparently just an appetizer compared to the next shonen hero that could be coming to Fortnite.
New evidence suggests that Fortnite is preparing for a Dragon Ball crossover, which could see Goku become a playable skin by the end of the summer. Notable Fortnite insider HYPEX revealed their discovery on Twitter. Epic Games has released an update for the game that includes a new Creative Stamina Prop modeled after the Capsule Corp items seen in the Dragon Ball series. With the United States release of the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie, it looks likely that the crossover would take place around the anticipated film's August 19th, 2022 release date.
As soon as Fortnite opened the door to bringing popular anime characters like Naruto into the game, fans adamantly expressed their desire to see Goku join the fray. To say that Dragon Ball and Goku are popular around the world would be an understatement. Thousands of fans crowded outdoor arenas in several countries to watch the beautifully animated climax of the Dragon Ball Super anime. Goku was also one of the most requested fighters to join Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Bringing the battle-loving Saiyan into Fortnite would undoubtedly encourage millions of fans to jump back into the game to see Goku dance with the game's emotes.
The Dragon Ball franchise is no stranger to video games, with the latest title, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, selling millions of copies. A new game called Dragon Ball: The Breakers is due by the end of 2022 and looks like a departure from other Dragon Ball Z games. Players will take control of everyday humans as they try to survive a deadly assault from the series' powerful villains in a cat and mouse format similar to the Dead By Daylight co-op multiplayer horror game. But if the leaks are accurate, fans will be able to play as Goku in Fortnite before the next official Dragon Ball game is released.
