Fortnite Wild Weeks continue from March 8, 2022, with Fortnite’s Avian Ambush Week. This week’s quests are all based around wildlife – specifically the chicken. To celebrate – or, rather, intimidate – Epic Games have made Chickens a whole loot more hostile…
Fortnite’s Wild Weeks returned to the Battle Royale as of February 22, 2022, with the Bownanza Week, followed on March 1 by Spidey’s Amazing Web Week. Now, things are turning fowl as wildlife gets involved and a new wild animal is revealed. Well, sort of. The chicken is a somewhat familiar sight in Fortnite these days, but its behaviour is altogether new as of Avian Ambush Week.

What is and where to find a Fortnite Loot Chicken?
Fortnite’s newest creature is the Loot Chicken. This works in pretty much the same way as any other loot wildlife, such as the Shark or Crow, in that it will glow either purple or gold, representing Legendary or Epic loot. From what we can tell so far, any chicken spawn can be a Loot Chicken, as they are otherwise the same as a normal chicken, however not all chickens will drop loot. Therefore, take a look at the map on our where to find Chickens guide for a better idea of where to hunt them down and increase your chances.
Fortnite Chickens fight back?
While not every Fortnite chicken will be a Loot Chicken, every chicken will now have hostile tendencies – but only if you shoot first. Chickens that take damage will start to attack back, and it seems from our first encounters that that damage doesn’t even have to come from you, so be careful. We found ourselves stuck in the storm, surrounded by hostile chickens. Since we hadn’t done damage to them first, we can only assume the damage they were taking from the storm caused their bad behaviour.
