Why Is The Fortnite Beach Jules Skin Claim Option Not Working?

Following the release of the Fortnite v20.30 update earlier today, players jumped back in to discover an in-game message from Epic Games surrounding a refund for the Beach Jules Skin.

The message appears to allow players to claim a free Beach Jules Skin, but Epic Games has since responded to the issue stating that the message was only intended for the original owners of the outfit. It turns out that claiming the outfit doesn’t actually do anything, leaving many fans leaving confused and annoyed.

Beach Jules was added to Fortnite Battle Royale back in June of 2021 and is a Rare Outfit costing 1,200 V-Bucks. Epic Games recently made a change to the appearance of the outfit, meaning players who had already purchased the skin were entitled to a refund due to the change.

Epic Games Mistakenly Send Beach Jules Message To All Fortnite Players

Following the May 3rd Fortnite update, players are logging back in and discovering the following in-game message:

“We’ve made some changes to this cosmetic. If you are no longer satisfied with your purchase, you can request a refund anytime before June 2, 2022, using the in-game flow (no refund token required). Thanks for playing!”.

Players will then have the option to press ‘claim’, but if you don’t already own the Beach Jules skin, pressing the button won’t actually do anything. This is confusing a large portion of the Fortnite community, as the skin doesn’t appear in the Locker section once claimed.

Epic Games has since responded to the issue stating that the message was “mistakenly” sent to all players, not just those who had purchased the outfit previously. The developers also reiterated that pressing the ‘claim’ button will not do anything.

The message about tokenless refund for Beach Jules outfit was mistakenly sent to everyone, not just players who had the outfit. If you do not currently own the item, clicking the "Claim" button will not do anything. We apologize for the confusion. pic.twitter.com/WvyYn80LbI
