A new exploit has been discovered in Epic Games' battle royale Fortnite that allows players to automatically reload their weapons.
The recent 13.20 update to Epic Games' battle royale Fortnite has added more content for players, such as new Punch Cards and rare golden mushrooms that offer boosts. However, a new exploit has also been discovered in the game since that update hit, this time allowing players to automatically reload their weapons if they quickly drop and pick them up again.
Popular Fortnite streamer Turner "Tfue" Tenney highlighted this exploit on Twitch Wednesday, describing it as "broken" because of how quickly it can be done, which essentially negates all necessity to reload. Tfue has been accused of cheating recently through the use of "macros," which also led to the ban of Fortnite YouTuber SerpentAU in June, but this is more of an issue with the game itself than any one person using the exploit.
Something similar to this was previously found in Activision's take on the battle royale genre, Call of Duty: Warzone. In April, it was discovered that swapping out guns while using pistols with the akimbo perk led to the weapon having infinite ammo.
fortnite reloading bug
This is not the first bug or exploit ever to be discovered in Fortnite, but frankly, the idea of having a slightly faster reload does not sound quite as game breaking as it could potentially be, so it's unclear whether Epic Games will jump on fixing it immediately or not. The recent update has led to a number of leaks regarding upcoming content that the development team is currently focused on, such as a new skin based on Marvel's Captain America.
Between additions like skins and the gradually draining map that became flooded at the beginning of Fortnite's Chapter 2, Season 3: Splashdown, there should be plenty to keep fans of the battle royale invested. Given Tfue alone has over 8.6 million followers on Twitch - and who knows how many other content creators have publicized the exploit - no doubt it will be seen all over Fortnite until the automatic reload is patched.
Despite the inescapable popularity of Epic Games' battle royale approaching its third anniversary, Fortnite has still technically been an early access game since it was released. The developers finally made Fortnite's shift to full release official this week, which ostensibly should not do much to the actual game's content, but is at least a symbolic gesture toward its success.
Fortnite is available now Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
