Fortnite was released five years ago and to this day, it is one of the most popular games in the world. There are always rumors that Fortnite will be shut down permanently, and we’ll break down if there’s any truth to those claims.

Very few games can replicate the long-lasting success of GTA V, Minecraft, or Roblox. However, Fortnite is really close to becoming an evergreen game if the implementation of Creative 2.0 goes as planned.

In the world of the internet, popularity is accompanied by criticism and Fortnite is no exception. While some claim that the battle royale title is ‘dead’, others have a problem with the ‘sweaty’ player base.

Let’s take a look at Fortnite’s current state and anticipate if it will ever end forever.

Is Fortnite shutting down in 2022?

No, Fortnite is not shutting down in 2022. Chapter 3 of the game began with massive storyline twists and crossovers, and to be fair, the quality of live events have improved. We are closer than ever to meeting Geno (leader of the Imagined Order) and it appears to be the ideal time for Epic Games to make new content.

In fact, Fortnite seems to have caught a second wind with Chapter 3 and the Zero Build mode. The faction of players who’ve always complained about the unfair competition can now switch to Zero Build mode which is much easier to learn.

Lastly, Fortnite has massive plans for Creative 2.0 and Epic Games has confirmed that the mode will be out this year. Creative 2.0 will allow Fortnite to incorporate countless genres of gaming like Minecraft and Roblox. Accordingly, the game will have the potential to survive even if the battle royale modes don’t perform well.

How many people play Fortnite: Active and monthly players in 2022

As per activeplayer.io, Fortnite has over 257 million monthly players in August 2022. At its peak, the active player count touched 23 million in July 2022.

The active and monthly player counts are the best way to judge a game’s potential and the probability of it shutting down. Clearly, Fortnite is nowhere near ‘dead’ status and is comfortably one of the most-played games in the world.

From the facts mentioned above, it is safe to assume that Fortnite isn’t ending forever anytime soon. The battle royale title still boasts a massive player base and Epic Games can sustain it with constant updates, new content, crossovers, live events, and of course, Creative mode.

Fortnite characters in battle in Season 4

According to a prominent leaker, the Epic Games might be planning to bring back a classic weapon in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 4 after four years in the vault.

A new season of Fortnite is almost upon us, and players are speculating about all the new content that could arrive in the long-awaited Chapter 3, Season 4, including brand-new Battle Pass skins.

At the time of writing, the developers haven’t revealed a ton of details about what will be included in the new season. However, a new leak suggests that we could see the return of a vaulted weapon.

On September 15, Epic Games revealed a new teaser image for Chapter 3, Season 4. While nothing about it seemed out of the ordinary, one detail caught the attention of notable leaker ‘HYPEX.’

The image shows a few Fortnite characters engaged in battle with one of them using a rocket launcher. HYPEX claims that the launcher in the teaser is using an “updated version of the Guided Missile’s projectile.”

This explosive weapon was first added to Fortnite back in 2018 and players could control the Guided Missile freely. They would take cover and then use the weapon to hunt down their enemies.

The Guided Missile could also be used as a regular rocket, but Epic Games ended up vaulting the weapon. Now, this new leak claims that the weapon could make its return to Fortnite after four years.

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that Epic games haven’t verified this information, so it’s entirely possible that the teaser is just showing a regular rocket launcher. We’ll have to wait for the new season to go live in order to be sure.

SypherPK will join the likes of Ninja and TheGrefg as notable creators who received their very own Icon Series skin in Fortnite. In total, he will be the ninth Fortnite creator personality to get their own skin, following the most recent additions of Ali-A and Chica.

The Fortnite community agrees that SypherPK is certainly deserving of the Icon skin and it’s clear to see how much it means to him. The content creator claims that his skin will deliver, “The craziest, biggest role out of an Icon you’ve ever seen.”

While we currently don’t have any details about the cosmetic items in the SypherPK bundle, we can use theAli-A Icon Series bundle to make a well-informed guess. The Ali-A bundle included a skin with different styles, a Back Bling, Glider, Pickaxe, Wrap, and Emote.

The Ali-A bundle cost 2,400 V-bucks and it’s safe to expect the SypherPK iteration to cost the same. However, we’ll provide the exact details once they’re available.

Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy are making their way to PC soon, and an early store page listing confirmed that Fortnite players will be able to get a free cosmetic to go along with the release. Here’s how to get Sully’s Seaplane for free in Fortnite.

Sony are bringing more and more of the best-selling PlayStation games to PC, with God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man both arriving this year. Uncharted is set to be up next, with the Remastered Legacy of Thieves collection coming soon.

The Epic Games Store page appeared online early, revealing that Uncharted Legacy of Thieves will arrive on October 19, and Fortnite players can get the free Sully’s Seaplane Glider to celebrate. Here’s how to get the free Fortnite cosmetic in Chapter 3, Season 4.

How to get free Uncharted Sully’s Seaplane in Fortnite

Fortnite players will just need to pre-order the Legacy of Thieves collection on the Epic Games Store, and Sully’s Seaplane Glider will arrive in their locker.

As it’s to celebrate Uncharted’s PC release, this means the cosmetic will only be free for PC players. This isn’t the first time Epic has included free skins with pre-orders either, as players could get the Borderlands Diamond Pony and Assassin’s Creed’s Ezio Auditore.

Will Sully’s Seaplane arrive in Fortnite’s Item Shop?

According to the leaked store listing, yes, Sully’s Seaplane Glider will arrive in Fortnite’s Item Shop on November 17, roughly a month after Legacy of Thieves’ expected launch date.

Uncharted’s Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer hit the Item Shop back in February, and the Seaplane was included in the trailer but never arrived. With Sully’s Seaplane in the Item Shop, we’ll probably see Nathan and Chloe back in the store as well.
