UPDATE — May 26, 2022: The Season 2 end event has now officially been confirmed, with Collision taking place on June 4, 2022.
As quickly as it came around, we’re somehow already entering the final days of Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2. And with a season-end event all but confirmed, we’re going to take a look at all the details, and all the leaks rumored to be coming in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3.
There was no live Fortnite event when Chapter 3, Season 1 ended, so fans will be happy to hear an event for the current season end is planned, according to datamined information. Not that we’re ever guaranteed an event, but they’ve certainly increased in frequency the deeper the Fortnite lore has become, and have almost become expected. Thanks to a couple of hints picked up in datamines, leakers are fairly convinced that the event will be going ahead, while official Fortnite posts have teased the return of The Mech.
Fortnite end-of-season event — Chapter 3, Season 2
Of course, there have only been hints so far, and if you aren’t looking for any potential spoilers for the end-of-season event, then skip ahead to the new Season-specific Fortnite leaks. However, everything that we are going to discuss should only be taken with a pinch of salt anyway.
With the war raging on between the Imagined Order (IO) and The Seven throughout Season 2, it seems things are set to come to a head, bringing the season to an end in an almighty final battle. As the IO’s Collider device threatens to destroy the entire Island, the Seven are rebuilding the Mecha Team Leader to counter the Imagined Order’s incoming attack.
While we say take what we’re saying with a pinch of salt, all of this is pretty much confirmed. The Mech now appears in the latest lobby screen, while the voice memos throughout the Resistance Challenges tell us everything else we know about the major characters going head-to-head in the final battle. What we don’t know is how much of The Paradigm we’re going to see. While she’ll likely be piloting The Mech into battle, The Foundation and The Origin still don’t trust her. Could this be how she earns back their favor? And will she go on to play a bigger part in Season 3?
When is the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 event?
Epic Games has now confirmed that the end-of-season event is happening and will take place on June 4, 2022, at 1pm PDT/4pm EDT/9pm BST.
When does Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 begin?
According to MidaRado, Season 3 is set to begin on June 5, 2022. The reason for believing this to be the case is a Tweet which claims the Omega Knight level-up pack end date has been changed to June 5, 2022. While the date remains the same for us in-game, this does now line-up with the announcement that the season-end event will take place on June 4, 2022, a day after the original season end date. There will likely be some extended downtime to take us from the event on June 4, to the new season launch on June 5, 2022.
Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 leaks
So what about when the new Season does start? What skins and collaborations can we expect during Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 based on leaks and rumors?
Darth Vader
Leakers all seem pretty confident in the fact that Lord Vader will be appearing in Season 3 as the Level 100 Battle Pass skin. This follows a recent leak during a State of Unreal stream in which a PC folder titled “VADER” seemingly confirmed the classic Star Wars villain would make an appearance. This wouldn’t come as a surprise, either, given Fortnite’s long-running crossover with the Star Wars franchise.
Most recently, Ewen McGregor’s Obi Wan Kenobi from the new Disney+ series was released to the shop, providing even more of a hint that Hayden Christensen’s own Darth Vader could be next. Pop-culturally-relevant characters Spider-Man and Doctor Strange appeared as Chapter 3’s previous Level 100 skins in conjunction with their own on-screen releases – No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness, respectively. As such, the Obi Wan-Kenobi miniseries character makes perfect sense to join us in Season 3. Especially given his surprising omission in every Star Wars crossover so far.
Even more Star Wars — AT-AT and customizable lightsabers
With Darth Vader almost certainly appearing in the Battle Pass, there’s the additional question of which supporting items will be released with him. While there will be some cosmetics on the Battle Pass page with the skin, this feels like the perfect occasion to finally introduce a customizable lightsaber, for which fans have been begging for months.
In the most recent Fortnite Seasons, there is always a customizable cosmetic, which players can collect with a currency gathered during matches. For example, Haven’s Masks, Fishsticks’ Rainbow Ink, and Tsuki’s Omni Sword. No lightsaber has yet been released with any of the previous Star Wars skins, either, so there is no harm of upsetting players who have purchased previous Bundles and Harvesting Tools.
In addition to Darth Vader and his cosmetics, there is – as ever – Donald Mustard and his Tweets. Mustard, the Epic Games Chief Creative Officer and the man behind everything Fortnite, has hinted at more Star Wars collaborations on numerous occasions, sending the Twittersphere into a frenzy. Just a few days ago, he changed his Twitter banner to a close up of a Lego AT-AT, a build he has posted to his feed before. While this is still just wishful thinking at this point, could Mustard be hinting that AT-ATs will be coming to the Fortnite Island? They would certainly work, in a similar way to B.R.U.T.E and other drivable weaponry.
A second Naruto crossover
Another leak gaining traction is that there may be a second Naruto collaboration coming up. While it hasn’t been long since the last Naruto crossover, which was released in November 2021, the new bundle would include different characters such as Kiba Inuzuka and Kurenai Yuhi, according to an image released online. The main reason behind believing this leak is that the original Naruto challenges were codenamed “Kawaii”, and dataminers have found that there is now work being done on more challenges named “Kawaii2”.
Fortnite goes to the moon
Another rumor doing the rounds involves the moon and the part it plays in Fortnite lore. The Paradigm is known to have gone to the moon when she last piloted the Mech, and may be where she is rebuilding it, with a potential moon base being seen in the current lobby image. While it’s very unlikely that we would change locations mid-way through a Chapter, this war could bring about the end of Artemis Island as we know it. And, taking things back to Donald Mustard and his cryptic posts, he recently changed his “location” on Twitter to “The Ice Moon.”
Of course, there are loads more Fortnite leaks doing the round than these, but these seem to be the few most believable. We’ll be keeping on eye on more information as it comes out in the coming days, as we count down to Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3, and the Collision event.
