Fortnite is back to doing large-scale live events to end its season, and the finale of Chapter 3, season 2 is nearly here.

Today, Fortnite has announced that the “Collision” event will take place on Saturday, June 4 at 4 PM ET. They have released a small amount of info about what’s coming, where we know it will feature the Doomsday Device on the map and the return of the monster-fighting mecha bear:

  • They advise that you show up 30 minutes prior when the playlist is live in order to secure your spot.
  • This is a one-time only event. There will not be replays in the future like there have been with a few past events. If you want to record it as a content creator, this will be your only chance to do so.
  • Everyone who logs in on June 4 will get an exclusive loading screen and lobby track. Before the event, there will be Mech Weapons Team Outfits for sale in the store, which seem to be Fortnite’s version of Power Rangers, sort of.

Epic also advises you that you should finish up all quests before the event at that time, which includes Prowler quests, Omni Chips and trading in Battle Stars for pass rewards. Battle Stars will be automatically redeemed for rewards if you fail to do this, but you won’t get to pick what you get.

Epic is also touting a “Bargain Bin Week” that’s returning to cut the cost of character services and exotic item trades for your remaining Bars, which will expire at the end of the season.

As of now, it’s unclear what exactly the event will entail, but some datamines point to something having to do with the moon, and it’s not yet apparent how that fits into the battle with IO and the return of the mech. Regardless, this seems like it will be an event not to be missed, and perhaps a return to form for Fortnite’s live events which I personally haven’t loved all that much recently.

Next season, we already know a few things coming like Darth Vader and apparently Indiana Jones skins, but we don’t know the theme of the season overall. Some are guessing at a pure Star Wars themed season like we got a Marvel season in the past, but others are saying that’s not happening, despite new Star Wars skins that will be on the way.

So, you have just over a week until the event, and we’ll talk more about it as it gets closer.
