Fortnite is almost constantly adding new content for players to discover, from gameplay mechanics to LTMs, POIs, and more. This is especially true when it comes to in-game items, of which one was very recently added: Feathers.
Epic Games' enduringly popular free-to-play battle royale title is well into its first season of the new Chapter 3, which introduces a new island alongside an ever-growing list of new items. Fortnite just rolled out the v19.20 update, which adds the new Feathers item amongst several other major pieces of new content.
How to Get Feathers in Fortnite
Fortnite has added Feathers to the game as its latest item, but some players may be confused where to find them, let alone what they're used for. Feathers are used to unlock a wide variety of masks for Haven, one of this season's Battle Pass skins which has been locked up until the most recent update. The Feathers can be found in chests anywhere on the island, meaning players will naturally accrue them the more matches they play. Fortnite's Feathers act as currency for Haven's Masks, but each mask has a secondary requirement that players should be aware of.

How to Get Haven's Masks in Fortnite
In order for Fortnite players to actually acquire Haven's Masks, they'll not only need a sufficient amount of Feathers, they'll also need to complete a quest related to the specific type of mask. For example, catching fish unlocks cat masks, foraging unlocks deer masks, gliding unlocks owl masks, and more. There are dozens of masks to unlock, but the majority of the mask quests are relatively simple, meaning players won't necessarily need to spend hours grinding. The system for Haven's Masks shares some similarities to the previous season's Battle Pass with Toona Fish.
In addition to Feathers, Fortnite's 19.20 update adds a revamped Heavy Shotgun and the new Covert Cavern POI, where a Mythic Stinger SMG resides. The new content this week doesn't stop there, however. The Fortnite Crew pack for February was recently revealed, which features a rave-ified skeleton called Aftermath. Sporting a chromatic outfit and gold disco ball-like skull, the character comes with multiple styles: a more covert masked-and-hooded style, and one that fully shows off his shiny skull. The accompanying reactive Flatline Back Bling should prove to be popular, functioning like a decibel meter when the wearer emotes.
While there unfortunately isn't a major shortcut for unlocking all of Haven's Masks, adept players should have little issue with unlocking the ones that appeal to them. However, gathering Feathers may get trickier in the future, as a new leak suggests a massive tank vehicle is coming to Fortnite.
Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
