Fortnite is getting into the Halloween spirit early with a new challenge that essentially tasks players with Trick or Treating…
…for bullets.
The goal of the challenge is to ring the doorbells of five houses that each have an opponent currently inside them. Obviously houses have never had doorbells to date, but it seems they’re being added to houses for this challenge, and for it to work, they have to be added to all of them, most likely, just like every basement got a puzzle piece for that challenge a few weeks back.
Go here to see where to shoot at targets at shooting ranges. Go here to see how to solve all week 4 challenges.
Fortnite classifies this as a hard challenge, and it definitely should be. For one, ringing a doorbell lets your opponent know exactly where you are. But most importantly, this challenge is going to require a fair amount of luck, as an opponent has to be inside a house for this to work. I suppose you can track people running into houses to gear up and then go for the doorbell approach, but it’s going to be tough to do that frequently. And five times? Yeesh.
What’s the best tactic here? Well, I’ve taken the liberty of drawing up a map that features a solid chunk of the houses currently on the map that all have doorbells. Big clusters of houses like in named zones are large pumpkins, while smaller clusters or individual houses are small pumpkins. Again, this isn’t 100% of them, but it’s more than enough to get you started.
For my money, your best bet is to head to one of the named zones because those are common landing spots, and as such, you’ll have a better chance at finding someone in a house. I’d land at Salty Springs, Snobby Shores, Pleasant Park or Paradise Palms as those are nothing but houses, more or less. You can try some of the smaller areas with just a single house or two, but your odds are quite a bit lower that you’ll find someone outside of a populated zone like that. And no, it doesn’t have to be a house with Halloween decorations. All houses appear to have doorbells.
This is also a challenge where you can’t jump into 50v50 to make it easier. That would actually make it harder because it can’t just be a teammate in a house, it has to be an opponent, and Solos is probably your best option here.
I do wonder if you’ll be able to find enemies that will be “cool” about this. As in, you agree to put differences aside for the moment and take turns stepping in and out of the house in order to ring the doorbell and make this work. But you can only do that once, because this has to be in different matches.
Once you get to a house, here’s what the doorbells look like:
I don’t believe there are doorbells on buildings with open doors/no doors like in Lucky Landing or that pueblo area in the south of the desert. And Tilted Towers may be housing, but it’s not houses, and there are no doorbells there I can find.
There are plenty of houses to choose from obviously, but you are going to have to get a bit lucky with this challenge that your ringing happens at the same time an opponent is present. Listen for footsteps, ring that bell and then get ready to fight. Good luck.
