This week, Epic Games wants players to loot a legendary weapon from an eliminated player in Fortnite. However, this is not an easy task for several reasons, the main one being that there's no way to tell whether an opponent has a legendary weapon to begin with.
That said, there are a few ways in which players can increase their odds of ensuring their opponents have legendary weapons. While the odds of success vary from player to player, these methods do have a higher success rate than engaging opponents at random.
A step-by-step guide on how to loot a legendary weapon from an eliminated player in Fortnite
1) Bait players with legendary loot and then eliminate them
The first method that can be used to loot a legendary weapon from an eliminated player is baiting. To execute this, players will have to find/purchase a legendary weapon or upgrade one and place it in a suitable location for an opponent to find.
Once done, they'll have to hide nearby and get into a good firing position. The moment an opponent picks up the legendary weapon, players can then open fire to try and eliminate them.
With a bit of luck, careful timing, and quick trigger fingers, the opponent won't know what hit them. Once they've been eliminated, the challenge will be completed and players will earn XP.
2) Survive until the end-game and eliminate opponents
The second method is much more rudimentary, but has a high success rate as well. Rather than baiting opponents, players have to survive until the end of a Fortnite match and engage foes in combat.
The general assumption is that towards the end of a match, the remaining players will have top-tier weapons—in this case, legendary ones. Players need to engage in combat with their opponents and win to complete the challenge.
While there's still no way of telling who will or will not have a legendary weapon, usually at this stage of the match, all players have at least one in their inventory. Hopefully, players will be able to eliminate an opponent who has one before being eliminated themselves or go on to claim a victory royale.
3) Wait for a player to leave a vault and then engage in combat
The final method is a bit more methodic in nature and should be the easiest way to complete this challenge. To do this, players will be required to camp outside vaults and wait until an opponent has opened one.
Given that loot within vaults is always high-tier, the odds of them obtaining a legendary weapon are all but guaranteed. That said, while they are looting the vault, players should get into a good firing position.
As soon as opponents try to leave the vault, players should open fire and inflict damage. Granted, the vault does have Slurp Barrels that will heal opponents, however, most usually break all of them while looting the vault.
That being said, with a bit of luck and persistence, players will be able to eliminate the opponent within the vault and complete the challenge. It's recommended to use Firefly Jars and grenades on the opponent as they have an AOE effect.
