It is evident that crossovers are the new normal in Fortnite. From Marvel and DC superheroes to real-life music artists, the Battle Royale title has turned into a hub of skins based on pop culture.

Crossovers in Fortnite have been around for a long time. In fact, the Reaper skin from Chapter 1 Season 3 was based on John Wick but Epic Games didn’t advertise at as a crossover.

However, the quantity and quality of crossovers in Fortnite have increased drastically since Chapter 2, and here’s what the community thinks of it.

Fortnite has gained millions of new players, thanks to collaborations

It is no surprise that crossovers help in promotion. Fortnite’s player base gets to know about new movies, video games, series, music artists, and vice versa. Moreover, fans love to don cosmetics that remind them of their favorite characters and franchises.

Digital concerts have been equally popular among players, especially during the COVID outbreak. When the world was trapped indoors, Epic Games’ Battle Royale game allowed millions of loopers to virtually attend concerts. These include Ariana Grande’s Rift Tour and the Soundwave Series concerts.

Crossovers also help in adding out-of-the-box content that seems impossible in other games. For instance, Wolverine, Predator, Huntmaster Saber, and Tony Stark were bosses on the island and Epic Games provided them with special abilities that otherwise wouldn’t have made sense.

Fortnite is the only Game where i can see Thanos and Darth Vader as a duo fighting against Travis, Ariana, Lebron, Neymar and marshmello, while itachi and máster chief are listening to Drake on a lambo and Rick,Deadpool, ghost Ryder , Batman and demogorgon are camping on a bush

With all these franchises going the multiverse route, technically according the MV theory, they're all one in the same and could crossover at any point in time. In a way, Fortnite is the most canonical IP out there

Another example of the same is Spider-Man’s Mythic web-shooters. Following the overwhelmingly positive response towards the web-shooters in Chapter 3 Season 1, Epic Games brought the Grapple Gloves which are basically the web-shooters with a different name and design.

Glowy wraps can cause you to get spotted, but they just look too cool to pass on. Epic games has begun slowly granting users the free hearts desire wrap. They were added to the game in patch 7.00 at the beginning of season 7.

Fortnite really be the only game where u can have LeBron James, will Smith Rick sanches and zenomorph in a squad fighting robocop who is using a lightsabre who is teamed up with masterchief using a stormtrooper blaster and also demogorgon who is fighting with a kinsman umbrella!

Is Fortnite going over the top with collaborations?

While collaborations have significantly helped Fortnite in standing out and building itself as a brand, many players feel that the developers have stopped paying attention to ‘original content’ owing to this. This includes the storyline, original skins, and even the Battle Pass.

Surprisingly, it has become common for the Battle Pass to have skins like Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Darth Vader, and Indiana Jones. Fans of these characters definitely appreciate them in the Battle Pass, but anyone who isn’t a Star Wars fan has no incentive to grind 100 tiring levels for a Darth Vader skin.

Adding to that, many loopers feel that it’s inappropriate for Naruto to dance on Tik-Tok emotes. Viewers who’ve looked up to the character for ages have outright rejected such crossovers because simply, they do not make sense.

Don't get me wrong I love crossovers in fortnite but we need more original skins instead of a new crossover every day.

Amidst the contrasting opinions of loopers, it is best if Fortnite strikes the perfect balance between original content and crossovers. To be fair, this has been the case in Chapter 3. Alongside collaborations, we also witnessed a ton of original map changes, new weapons, and storyline development.

This explains why Fortnite has caught a second wind with Chapter 3. The game hasn’t been this popular since Chapter 2, and the release of Creative 2.0 should make things even better.
